Myosotis scorpioides is our native water forget-me-not, found around lakes, ponds, streams, marshes and fens across the British Isles. It is very easy to grow, with simple mid-green leaves and clusters of small blue flowers from spring through to early autumn. Like most forget-me-nots, these flowers are very attractive to pollinators. The foliage is larger and more fleshy than the land forget-me-nots, and the blooms are also slightly bigger. It is also known as 'Scorpion-grass' because of the curved 'tail' at the end of the stems after flowering, and sometimes by its old name of Myosotis palustris.

Cutting it back after flowering will help to keep it compact and encourage it to keep blooming, but stop doing this towards autumn because new shoots will sprout in spring from the dead flower stems.

If designing a planting scheme, we recommend approximately 2 Myosotis scorpioides plants per square foot of ground, or 1 plant per linear foot of pond edge. Read more here on how to .
